Public-At-Large Director Position

The Board of Directors
The Board meets quarterly and consists of 15 Directors – one appointed from each of our nine member groups, one provincial government representative, one ACA/University of Alberta chair in fisheries and wildlife, two appointed Public-At-Large Directors and four Regional Public-At-Large Directors.
Regional Public-At-Large Directors
Regional Public-At-Large Directors are appointed for an initial three year term, to a maximum of two consecutive terms.
To be eligible as a Regional Public-At-Large Director you must:
- Be a permanent resident of the region being represented (Northwest Region).
- Be an adult citizen of Canada or a legal resident.
- Possess a keen interest in ACA and be willing to serve a three year term and participate in quarterly Board of Director meetings.
- Be a holder of a WIN Card or Treaty Card.
- Be able to expand capabilities to existing Board.
- Be willing to participate in public outreach.
- Provide confirmation of being in an unaffiliated* position.
- Be aware of conservation issues in their respective region.
- Authorize ACA to request and review any criminal violations and record/violations under the Wildlife Act.
- Provide a minimum of three references.
- Provide a maximum two page written summary of your background (a Conservation Résumé) that defines who you are, what you do, interests, where you live, memberships, community connection and credibility, etc.
- Complete an Application Form.
*Unaffiliated is defined as: Must not currently hold a paid, contracted, elected or appointed position where the position wields direct or significant influence within the Member Organization, or have held such a relationship in the past one year.
Process
- Candidates must submit their application in writing. Two documents are required and must be completed in full in order to be considered for this position:
• Conservation Résumé
• Application Form - Confirmation of receipt will be sent to applicants.
- A Board Committee reviews all applications, conducts interviews with qualified candidates and then provides their final recommendations to the Board of Directors.
- The selected candidate is announced at the March 2010 Board meeting.
