Randy Collins
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Randy moved to Alberta in 1978 as part of a job transfer with a national newspaper company. Randy is still employed with the Edmonton Journal, now as a graphic artist, and has been employed in the newspaper industry for 36 years.
An avid outdoors person and angler, Randy worked at various camps (Scouts, Church groups) as a teenager. When arriving in Edmonton in 1978, he was
introduced to the Alberta Fish and Game Association, and joined a local club in St. Albert. Randy has been an active and vocal member of the AFGA board of directors since 1996. Starting out as a zone director, and ending up as president of the provincial association from 2005 to 2007.
Throughout his AFGA volunteer career Randy has been on many committees, He was an original member of the “Hunting for Tomorrow” start up, a member and promoter of the “Alberta Hunters Who Care Program” that saw hunters starting to donate wild game to local foodbanks and a member of the Canadian Wildlife Federation from 2004 to 2007.
He is particularly proud of his work the past 15 years with the various fish and game clubs in Northern Alberta that work hard every year to host the Annual Camp He-Ho-Ha Physically Challenged Fun Fishing Day, an event that takes visually impaired, seniors and mobility limited people out for a great day of fishing and friends. The event won a Canadian National Fisheries Award in 2008.
Named to the board of directors of the Alberta Conservation Association in the spring of 2008, Randy looks forward to the challenges and camaraderie of
working and dialoguing with the best from Alberta’s outdoors groups to ensure a sustainable and fruitful future for Alberta’s hunters, anglers and trappers and the activities they cherish.
