Robert Bateman shares his vision for
Get to Know

In late October, Robert Bateman met with Alberta Conservation Association Managers and Board Members to share his vision for the Get to Know Program. He spoke with great passion and commitment about conservation education and the importance of getting kids out of doors to connect with nature.  Mr. Bateman’s philosophy is that children who are involved with nature are a friend of nature.

ACA is a proud supporter of the Get to Know Program in many capacities including the promotion and distribution of the Robert Bateman Get to Know Interactive CD into every school in Alberta.

Recently, ACA and Robert Bateman signed a Memorandum of Understanding to open the first Get to Know Conservation site in Canada. Key elements would include conservation education programs designed by Robert Bateman, a fish pond, interpretive trails. Details about the acquisition of the property should be forthcoming in the next few months.

Mr. Bateman recognizes the important role hunters and anglers have in wildlife management and conservation; contributing millions of dollars annually needed to support research and education. Getting youth outdoors and engaged in hunting and fishing is vital to fostering future conservationists and the long-term success of conservation in Alberta.
