ACA Fish Stocking Project
Expression of Interest

The ACA Fish Stocking Project stocks rainbow, brown, brook, and tiger trout in regions of Alberta where few angling prospects exist. Recipient waterbodies are generally small and situated near or within urban centres. ACA stocked ponds require annual fish stocking in the spring to maintain angling opportunities. Annually, we stock approximately 65 waterbodies with approximately 111,000 trout. Check out our stocked lakes here: https://www.ab-conservation.com/programs/fish/aca-stocked-lakes/.

ACA sources trout from various fish hatcheries throughout the province. We hold a bidding process annually to purchase trout from qualified growers. Our requirements are to rear disease‑free triploid (3N) 20 cm rainbow trout and deliver them to specific ponds before the May long weekend, typically in late April/early May. Individual stockings are from a few hundred to 2,500 fish per waterbody.

If you would like to express interest in providing rainbow trout in 2023 for us please download the form, and complete and submit it to procurement@ab-conservation.com by October 15, 2021. We will review all submissions. A bidding process for qualified growers will be held November/December 2021.
