Alberta Conservation Association (ACA) is seeking a highly motivated individual with keen interests in conservation and sustainable use of aquatic resources to join our Fisheries Program. This is a full-time, temporary (18-month+) position based out of our NE Regional Office in Sherwood Park.
Focal areas under our Fisheries Program include population assessment, sport fishery evaluation, recreational fish stocking, lake aeration, fisheries and fish habitat restoration and enhancement, invasive species, implementation of approved fish species management and recovery plans, and applied research geared to answering questions relevant to conservation and management policies.
The individual will function as part of a team to develop and deliver one or more projects in their area of expertise. Your work will also assist with the development and implementation of the broader ACA Fisheries program through identification of emerging issues, interaction with stakeholders, partnership building, and communication with the broader conservation community.
Successful candidates will thrive in a supportive team environment, but also be able to operate with a high degree of independence. Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative style are desired.
This role will require periodic work during non-traditional office hours including weekends and holidays, as well as occasional work in field camps, and travel throughout Alberta.
- Minimum: B.Sc. in Biology (M.Sc. preferred) with related experience

- Strong data management and analytical skills (e.g., R stats environment and GIS)
- Ability to perform in a variety of field conditions
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team
- Ability to mentor and train other staff
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
