Finding a scenic fishing spot close to town can be tough, but when we create habitat for fish, we create places to fish. Located just seven km west of Highway 2 near Blackfalds, Boulder Lake is worth a trip whether you are a seasoned angler or have never wet a line. Thanks to the generosity of a local family and the hard work of our partners, what was once a gravel pit is now a fun, family-friendly destination where you can try your luck at catching feisty trout.

The peace and tranquility of Boulder Lake was a treasured spot for the family that donated it to Alberta Conservation Association (ACA). They envisioned a place where people of all ages, backgrounds, and physical abilities could immerse in nature and enjoy the pond as they did for generations. Since 2021, the six-acre pond has been stocked annually with both rainbow and tiger trout. We’ve been working hard with the Lacombe Fish and Game Association to develop the day-use site, which now includes a parking area near the main entrance, a permanent outhouse near the pond, a floating dock, and numerous casting platforms along the shore. Grab your fishing rod, pack a picnic basket and some daydreams, and come out to enjoy Boulder Lake.
