Winter Angling Opportunities

Bundle up, grab your tackle box and enjoy great winter angling at one of our aerated lakes.

The Pouce Coupe River winter range lies tucked up in northwestern Alberta making it an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. Located approximately 75 kilometres west of Spirit River near the Alberta/British Columbia border, this Conservation Site has something for just about everybody who is interested in the wildlife, natural areas, geology and recreational opportunities of northwestern Alberta.

The survival of the piping plover population has been severely threatened by loss of habitat and human disturbance. With fewer than 300 of these unique shoreline birds remaining in Alberta today, the fragile future of this species is literally on eggshells if aggressive conservation efforts are not made.

Fostering cooperation and respect between land users and landowners.

If winter has you feeling a bit cooped up, take a few minutes to enjoy some spectacular imagery of Alberta’s natural wonders. Photography courtesy of staff and friends.
