Important Notice Regarding Application Deadlines
Some changes have been made to the GECF starting this 2010/2011 funding cycle.
- Conservation Support and Enhancement: Applications will be accepted between January 2 and January 29, 2010.
Conservation Support and Enhancement supports conservation activities by individuals, organizations, and communities that contribute to healthy fish and wildlife populations, to a healthy environment for fish and wildlife in Alberta, and to the understanding, appreciation and use of that environment. These projects are geared towards on the ground or grass roots projects.

The 2009-2010 funding allocation list and 2009-2010 GECF project summary are now available!
Funded by the province's hunters and anglers, the Grant Eligible Conservation Fund annually supports a variety of projects both small and large which benefit Alberta's wildlife and fish populations, as well as the habitat they depend on. This year (2009-2010) just under one million dollars have been allocated to 68 projects for conservation work in Alberta. Since 2002, the Grant Eligible Conservation Fund has received 907 applications, of which 492 have been funded. For every dollar granted, an estimated $6.30 is leveraged in partner dollars. Including this eighth funding cycle, a total of $8.5 million has been granted through the GECF, leveraging an estimated $53.7 million in conservation projects across the province.
