Grant Eligible Conservation Fund

The 2010-2011 GECF Part A: Conservation Support and Enhancement and Part B: Research funding allocations have been made and projects are underway.

The 2010-2011 funding allocation list is now available!

Funded by Alberta's hunters and anglers, the Grant Eligible Conservation Fund annually supports a variety of small and large projects that benefit Alberta's wildlife and fish populations, and the habitat they depend on. For the 2010-2011 funding round, just over $500,000 has been allocated to 33 projects under the GECF Part A: Conservation Support and Enhancement, and an additional $350,000 has been awarded to 14 research projects under the new GECF Part B: Research. Since 2002, the Grant Eligible Conservation Fund has received 1014 applications, with 539 awarded grants. For every dollar granted, an estimated $6.30 is leveraged in partner dollars. Including this eighth funding cycle, a total of $9.35 million has been granted through the GECF, leveraging an estimated $59 million in conservation projects across the province.

The next opportunity to apply for funding will be November 2010 for GECF Part B: Research and January 2011 for GECF Part A: Conservation Support and Enhancement. Applications and Funding Guidelines will be available in the fall, so please check back.
