2011 W.I.S.E. Award
February 2011 saw ACA President & CEO, Todd Zimmerling, receive a prestigious Conservation Education W.I.S.E. Award. He was nominated for his work to establish funding for education programs that have benefitted hundreds of people.

Conservation Magazine was one of three contenders in the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association Showcase Awards “Best Photo” category. Our cover photo from the Spring/Summer 2010 issue snagged the judges' attention.
2011 The Wildlife Society Alberta Chapter Award: Best Wildlife Publication, “Popular Category”
In February 2011 we received this award for Discover Alberta’s Wild Side: Annual Outdoor Adventure Guide. We began publishing the Guide in 2008 to connect Albertans to the outdoors.
When we started, the Guide contained 361 Conservation Sites covering approximately 200,000 acres. That has grown each year. In the latest issue, we have 703 Conservation Sites covering over 260,000 acres. The Guide is also available online with maps and driving directions to make finding Conservation Sites convenient. In 2011, we added the Alberta Outdoor Adventure Guide app to the tools we offer to connect Albertans with their beautiful and accessible backyard.
