Report A Poacher
What is poaching?

Poaching is a crime. Poachers deplete wildlife and fish populations and destroy precious natural habitat. If convicted, you may face significant monetary penalties and / or incarceration.
You are a poacher if you:
- Hunt or fish out of season
- Road hunt
- Night hunt
- Trespass
- Exceed bag limits
- Sell wildlife or fish illegally
How can you report a poacher?
Poaching is a growing problem in Alberta, but it is one that you can help prevent. As a community-based program, Report A Poacher (RAP) relies on citizen reports to help apprehend suspects and protect the abundance and diversity of Alberta’s fish, wildlife and habitat. Please help keep wildlife in our future and report a poacher.

Program history
Created in 1990 as a community-based program, Report A Poacher (RAP) provides Albertans with an opportunity to help protect Alberta’s wildlife, fisheries and the habitat in which they live by reporting suspected illegal activity through a toll-free phone number (1-800-642-3800) in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
In addition, RAP promotes both the value and importance of conserving Alberta’s wildlife and fisheries and a positive image of resource users.
On average, RAP receives 4000 calls per year and rewards anyone whose information leads to an arrest.
